Mighty Uke Day Concert - Sarah Maisel and Craig Chee wsg The Spirit of Aloha Entertainers
Sarah Maisel (ukulele and vocals), hailed as the "Queen of Jazz Ukulele" by international music critics, has taken the world by storm and strum. The last couple of years have been quite the milestones for Sarah as she found herself performing for the first time overseas at the largest ukulele festivals in England and Australia. Originally from Birmingham Alabama, Sarah studied classical violin for 10 years. After moving to San Diego, CA, she soon discovered the ukulele (in 2006) and her new musical adventure began. Her first album was recorded in 2010, and she now has three albums to her credit.
Craig Chee hails from Hawaii, and grew up playing ukulele, piano, and cello. When he moved to the mainland for college, he began to focus on the uke as a way to share his culture. A fine songwriter, singer, and intrumentalist, Craig has two fine albums to his credit and and has been performing at uke festivals across the country and the world.
Sarah and Craig will each perform solo sets and join each other on a variety of tunes. Expect some guest stars to show up and play along with them during the evening. They are a lot of fun and incredibly talented- you are going to love them!
As a special treat, the Spirit of Aloha Entertainers will be opening the show. A select group of hula dancers, led by Melanee Matila Hirvela and backed by Mitch Chang, Gerald Ross, Steve Szilagyi, and singer Lia Kananimauloa Moore will delight you with their classic Hawaiian dances and songs.
