Foraging in Central Park
Discover a new Central Park, on April 26th one bursting with wild edibles. In this fascinating, customized two-hour tour with "Wildman" Steve Brill, join Chairperson Terry Frishman in a fruitful foraging expedition. We will identify, collect and learn about ingredients for a sensational salad perhaps of sweet redbud flowers, sour greenbrier, sheep sorrel leaves and tender cucumber-flavored cattail shoots Or spicy mustard greens (i.e. garlic mustard, hedge mustard and poor mans pepper), milder violet leaves, Asiatic dayflowers and chickweed. With luck, we might find savory dryad's saddle, wine-cap stropharia or chicken mushrooms.
Afterwards, for those who separately RSVP well go Dutch and taste up to 8 fruit-flavored sangrias while brunching on Nuevo Latino food in the private back area of the popular Calle Ocho restaurant.
Space is limited so please register ASAP to guarantee your place on this tour, and/or for the optional Calle Ocho Sangria Brunch, afterwards. Get a point for attending, and another for volunteering to manage registration and /or take notes and photos for the write-up afterwards!
