The Improv Gym (with Paul Connolly)
-- Class Overview -- Just as athletes regularly work out at the gym to improve their physical muscles, performers need the chance to work on their creative muscles. With The Improv Gym, participants will indicate what areas of their improvised performance they wish to work on - be it physicality, character, truth monologues, or something else - and the session will be catered around working on those skills. An opportunity for experienced improvisers to work on their skills in a low-stake, friendly and supportive environment.
-- Pre-Requisites -- - A year or more experience in improv training/performance (please indicate experience during sign-up) - An idea of an area(s) you would like to work on
-- About The Teacher -- Paul Connolly is an Edinburgh based award-winning actor, comedian, improviser, teacher, writer and director. He is best know for his work with TBC Improv (Absolute Improv!, Absolute Improv Stories!) and the Scottish Comedy Award Winning Spontaneous Players (Spontaneous Sherlock, Spontaneous Potter). As well as performing around the UK, Europe and North America, since 2010 Paul has taught and trained extensively in acting, improv, musical improv, sketch and more, studying at among others: Edinburgh College; UCB/Magnet Theater/Terry Knickerbocker Studio (New York); iO/Second City (Chicago); Drama Inc. (Atlanta). In recent times focused on his comedy character The Director (The Director Work At Home) and his one-man show The Paul Connolly Showcase.
