*A celebration* of overcoming fear and insecurity, instead speaking truth to power, trading squishy ambivalence for moral conviction, and replacing defeatism with redemptive hope.
*An invitation* to give away money to the poor and food to your friends with inspired, holy abandon.
*An opportunity* to wear those leather disco pants hiding in your closet, bare your cleavage or camel toe in public, and rock that blond wig or toupee.
THIS IS PURIM. So shut up, get your ticket, and tell everyone you know.
Here's the deal:
6:30 Show up, get a seat, drink a shot or two, pre-game.
7 pm Havdallah, Megillah, Spiel 8:30 onward Masked revelry, a big 'ole dance floor, adult carnival games, Vashti's Dance-off, good dinner food and character-themed drinks ad d'lo yada (til you can't tell what the hell is happening), raffle. We'll be selling delectable treats for you to share with friends (mishloah manot) and donating some proceeds to charity, all in the spirit of the holiday.
Did we mention that this is by far the most spiritually advanced of all the Jewish holidays on the calendar? The challenge: to have this much fun while recognizing that it's all in the service of building awareness and celebration of the randomness, chance and change-on-a-dime reality of life. So eat, drink, be merry, hear the megillah, be good. See you this Saturday night.
