Guest class with Steph McMann
Steph McMann is a dancer, performer, movement director and choreographer from London. Working in live performance, film, television and theatre, Steph develops movement vocabulary, choreography and behaviour both to perform and to direct.
In this class Steph will guide participants through a structured improvisational class, informed by her practice of dancing, performing and directing. We will follow a process of layering and weaving between images, words and questions, while letting go of self-judgement and letting our moving selves expand into a widening experience of the present. Playing with disempowering judgement and emboldening play we will attempt to plunge directly into tensions between our senses, environments and pleasures.
Steph has worked professionally for over 15 years and has worked extensively with artists including Roberta Jean, SERAFINE1369, Oona Doherty, Seke Chimutengewende, Theo Clinkard, Damien Jalet and J.Neve Harrington amongst others. She works regularly with Alex Reynolds and Charlie Mayhew in the TV, film and commercial industry. She has toured throughout the UK and Europe and teaches professionally all over the world.
Stephanie is dancer/co-artistic director of Nora with Eleanor Sikorski & Flora Wellesley Wesley. Their last commissions included Deborah Hay and Eleanor Bauer. She is a past Sadlers Wells Summer University artist (2015-18) and works with Scottish Dance Theatre as Rehearsal Director in a freelance capacity.
