MTC's Beauty and the Beast Performance
This version of Beauty and the Beast originated in France and has been told and retold for three centuries. Now Classics With A Twist offers it as a charming, fast-paced, energetic play,and as a well-crafted and highly appealing musical. Featuring fabulous village scenes and introducing many new and fascinating characters like Louis, ze French painter, and his lovely assistant, Fifi Laroo, who are both turned to stone as soon as they enter the great hall in the Beast's palace,falling victim to "the curse of the rose" as so many others have before them. Frau Marta is the village troublemaker along with her friend, Frau Grista, and their two stuck-up daughters, who make life miserable for Beauty Rose and her two sisters. The plans of Ezmergelda, an evil witch, are foiled when true love wins out over false judgements--and the lesson that "Looks can be deceiving" strikes straight to the heart.
