SPEAKER'S BIOGRAPHY:
Originally from northeast Georgia, Neil grew up in El Paso, TX as a bonafide Army brat. He received is undergraduate degree in Maritime Systems Engineering from Texas A&M University at Galveston in 1993. After working in the energy industry in Houston for 2 years, he moved to Louisiana where he completed his Masters of Landscape Architecture at LSU, and then on to the DFW area where he worked at a design firm for 7+ years, departing as a Senior Associate.
From 2004 to 2010, Neil worked for Jacobs in San Antonio serving as the Lead Designer for the Mission Reach Ecological Restoration and Recreation (MR-ERR) project and acting as the Discipline Lead for the Urban Design and Planning groups in San Antonio and Austin. The MR-ERR project, located on the San Antonio River and directed by the US Army Corps of Engineers in cooperation with the San Antonio River Authority, City of San Antonio and Bexar County, remains one of the largest civil works projects in the Fort Worth District.
Since arriving at TPWD in 2010, Neil has served as a Project Manager in INF Regions 2 and 3, working primarily on capital projects at San Jacinto Battleground SHS and the Battleship TEXAS. Neil has also completed capital projects for other parks and Wildlife Management Areas around the state.
