Morningside Monster

In the working class town of Morningside, New Jersey, Sheriff Tom Haulk maintains a quiet peace. Beyond the typical bar brawls and unfortunate reality of the local drug runners, he doesn't stress too much about his job. He worries lean far more towards his best friend, the local high school history teach, Mark Matthews, whose wife Abby is struggled with late stage cancer. That is, until strange symbols start appearing around town. And then the corpse of one of the drug runners turns up, and the murder was a brutal, ritualistic killing. Along with his deputies, Klara Austin and Scott Colley, the sheriff investigates the murder. The usual suspects include Clyde Miller, the head of the drug gang, and his lackeys, who are also former high school antagonists of Tom and Mark. When more members of the gang start disappearing, along with accompanying symbols left in their wake, the officers begin to suspect a serial killer. After Mark is attacked at the local high school and deputy Colley is killed trying to protect him, a new sense of urgency overtakes the detectives. The discovery of piece of ancient tile on one of the dead bodies is the only real cluethey have.Following separate leads, Klara and Tom are each thrown into violent confrontations with the Monster -who is revealed to be wearing a ritualistic tile mask, similar to those of ancient South American tribes. During a fight with the Monster, Klara is attacked and Clyde is taken captive. As Tom struggles to find any thread of evidence, a call from the FBI forensics team gives him the final piece of the puzzle, leading Tom and Klara to a desperate and shocking conclusion that threatens to destroy the very foundation of Morningside.
