Written by Handbag Artistic Director, David Cerda (adapted from the Stirling Silliphant screenplay), POSEIDON! An Upside Down Musical is a musical parody and homage to the classic 1972 cult film, The Poseidon Adventure, the camp grandmother of all disaster films. The play celebrates and lampoons the beloved cult classic through comedy and music. When a tidal wave capsizes the SS Poseidon luxury liner on New Years Eve, a handful of passengers decide to climb to the top of the ship which is now the bottom.

The perilous journey of these colorful characters, both tragic and humorous, makes for an edge-of-your-seat story as a group of hardcore fans of The Poseidon Adventure fans watch on and become a part of the film providing commentary and insight on how film has the power to resonate in our collective conscious resulting in very real shared experiences. And you thought it was just a silly disaster film.
