Bonnie Bayou Blues
The band comprises singer-songwriter/guitarist Jennifer Ewan, Kim Tebble (Deaf Heights Cajun Aces) on accordion/flute and percussionist Paul Dennington (Wolfnote). Jens rich and distinctive voice is a link between Scottish song traditions and American country music from Appalachia to Louisiana to Texas. Scots-Cajun mid-tempo personal ballads are grounded in the grooves of Cajun dance music and the unusual interplay of accordion, acoustic guitar and bass.
The band has appeared on BBC Radios The Afternoon Show, Celtic Connections at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and BBC Radio Scotlands The Janice Forsyth Show. They first brought their show, Bonnie Bayou, to the Edinburgh Festival in 2017 and performed to sell-out audiences throughout their twelve-night run, building on this success at the 2018 and 2019 Festival with two highly acclaimed runs of shows at the Jazz Bar. They are delighted to be returning to the Jazz Bar for the 2022 Edinburgh Festival Fringe for a run of their new show Bonnie Bayou Blues.
