Red Molly In Concert!
The concert begins at 7:30 in Unity Hall at All Souls, 19 Jay Street, New London, CT. Doors open 7 p.m.
The Boston Globe praised Red Molly's crystalline vocals, tight arrangements, and "caramel harmonies," while John Platt of WFUV declared, "Make room, Roches and Wailin' Jennys, Red Molly has earned a place among the elite female trios." If you had to describe Red Molly in one word, "joyous" would be the one to choose.
Red Molly knows about good cheer. The band's fans, referred to as "RedHeads," respond to the sense that the band is a group of friends, sharing songs in their living room. Laurie MacAllister (guitar, banjo, bass), Abbie Gardner (dobro, guitar) and Molly Venter (guitar) are something extraordinary. They sing gorgeous a cappella ballads, bluegrass-tinged folk and a bit of jazzy western swing, all served up with three-part harmonies, signature dobro licks and inventive arrangements.
Red Molly has opened a number of shows for music legend Willie Nelson. The Boston Globe praised their "tick-tight arrangements, crystalline vocals and caramel harmonies." Their CD Light in the Sky spent 20 weeks on the Americana Music Association's Top 40 radio chart. In 2013, the band toured in Australia and Europe. After the Rhythm and Roots Reunion in Virginia, the Bristol Herald Courier declared that the three women, "lit up the stage, as a massive crowd of adoring fans sat mesmerized by their silky smooth harmonies and superb musicianship."
