smARTfilms: EAT DRINK MAN WOMAN
BIMA smARTfilms series fosters community conversation through the merger of visual art, film, and narrative. After the screening, our host and guest(s) will initiate a discussion about the film and its art. All are welcome to participate in an open exchange of ideas during these post-film discussions.
EAT DRINK MAN WOMAN - Director Ang Lee's follow-up to his internationally successful THE WEDDING BANQUET is a delicious examination of the relationship between an aging Chinese master chef and his three daughters - the oldest, an unmarried schoolteacher; the middle daughter, a thriving corporate executive whose career comes before all else; and the youngest, a 20-year-old romantic who works in the fast food business. While the Sunday dinners are sumptuous Chinese dishes, the themes of the film are universal - communicating between generations, expressing love - in a blended dish of comedy and drama. 1994 - 124 minutes - unrated (mature themes) - subtitled
The BIMA Bistro will remain open until 7pm in advance of each screening and is planning menu offerings to complement each film for guests who want to dine before the film.
