A Co-Production Between Team Sunshine Performance and The Philly Pideon
The Society of Civil Discourse will happen in two phases. After a brief and fun induction ceremony, audience members will get to roam around the cavernous Underground Arts, grab a drink and participate in four different facilitated talking stations at their own pace.
Phase 1: Free Roaming Talking Stations
Appreciation: Tell us why you love what you love or pick a random topic.
Hateration- Same as above but with hate.
Expert Speed Dating: Meet fellow "experts" with real or imagined passions.
Defend an Opinion: Pick a card with silly opposing views on it. Defend one.
Phase 2: The Great Debate
Argument Teams composed of professional performers and people recruited from the audience will engage in a 5 round debate over an audience chosen topic. Audience members will be encouraged to cheer, heckle and vote for the winners.
The Great Debate will have five rounds:
Opening Statements
Personal testimony
Mime
Fake statistics
Closing statements
It's going to be a lot of fun. If you're curious or confused, come to the event. Thursday March 20th, 7pm sharp should rap by 9:30.Tickets are $10 in advance and $13 at the door.
