We are thrilled to invite you to attend MICOP's annual Mixteco/Indigenous Conference, to be held at Oxnard College on April 25, 2014. We expect approximately 200 representatives from area agencies, schools, clinics and hospitals, and public offices to join us for the day-long conference. Ventura County's 20,000 indigenous immigrant residents will be the focus of the conference, as we discuss traditions, daily life, and recommendations for how best to work with and serve our community. Seminars will focus on:
- Providing health services to the indigenous community - Working with interpreters - Mixtec birth practices - The indigenous community and the law - Mixtec women's lives and philosophy
The Conference will feature art exhibits of local artisans and will share together in a traditional indigenous lunch. Thank you for considering joining the Conference.
