The Good Life: with Novella Carpenter, author of 'Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer'
Set in Tom Douglas' fabulous Palace Ballroom, The Good Life events are highlighted by an onstage conversation and interview with the author, led by Warren Etheredge of The Warren Report, followed by a lively audience question and answer period. Appetizers and a copy of the featured book are included for each attendee. A cash bar is available, and the evening ends with a Theo Chocolate confection.
After graduating from the UW, and studying journalism at Berkeley under Michael Pollan, Novella bought a garbage-filled empty lot next to her ramshackle house, one block from the interstate in downtown Oakland. Today it is filled with raised vegetable beds, beehives, a henhouse, turkeys and few Nigerian dwarf goats. 'Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer' is her memoir of that transformation and all of the unforgettable characters and challenges she met along the way.
This amazing new series, The Good Life, has been created by Kim Ricketts/Book Events and The Warren Report, and is supported by sponsorship from Bastyr University, Tom Douglas Restaurants, Theo Chocolate, Conscious Choice/Seattle and Lush Life Floral.
