The Way to Nowhere Island
Tamsin Omond is a rising star of the British environmental movement: a striking, charismatic young activist, who is making headlines taking part in direct actions that regularly get her arrested. But as radical action after radical action fails to convert more people to the cause, she decides to change tactics: the media love her, so why not try and use them to get her message across to a wider audience? Tamsin's decision to turn herself into an 'eco-celebrity' will not be to everyone's liking, though...This film is the Quixotic tale of a fascinating, paradoxical character who is desperate to do whatever she can to change the world - even if this comes at the cost of alienating the people closest to her. It raises the question of what kind of person you have to become to be an activist; and if whether the best way to achieve change is to fight against the system, or to change it from within...
