Roedde House Museum presents: Jazz Nights with Daniel Reynolds, Conrad Good and Adam Cormier
The trio will be presenting new original music which they have been preparing for an upcoming recording, as well as some of their favorite songs from the jazz canon and the Great American songbook. Stylistic influences include John Coltrane, Keith Jarrett, Joni Mitchell, Norma Winstone, Wayne Shorter, Bill Evans, and George Cables.
The trio has been writing music and performing together for almost ten years, and have enjoyed many performance opportunities across Canada. In July 2013 they went on a tour of Western Canada with Calgary singer Ellen Doty. They are currently working towards recording an album of original music in the summer.
Daniel Reynolds (piano) was born and grew up in Vancouver. From an early age he took an interest in piano and especially jazz music, which was introduced to him by his father. After a musically inspired childhood and adolescence, Dan moved to Montreal to study at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University. He studied piano, composition, and arranging with some of Canada's finest musicians and teachers. He has been recognized by the Fraser MacPherson scholarship program and by the Hnatyshyn Foundation as the 2010 recipient of the Oscar Peterson Grant for Excellence in Jazz Performance. He is currently based in Vancouver, where he is busy teaching, performing and collaborating with various artists.
Conrad Good (bass) was born and raised in Vancouver. He began his music studies on cello when he was five. At ten, when his arms were a bit longer, Conrad picked up the double bass. Conrad continued his classical studies, playing with the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony and the Lord Byng Symphony Orchestra. Since completing his studies in Montreal, Conrad has played in the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Edmonton International Jazz Festival, and Phil Dwyer's Vancouver Island Jazz Festival. Conrad works with musicians across Canada, in various contexts.
Adam Cormier (drums) is a drummer and composer from Western Canada, raised in Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island. Adam was introduced to music and the drums at the age of nine at his elementary school, and at 13 began his jazz studies at Wellington Jazz Academy. After high school he attended Vancouver Island University for two years, after which he was offered a full scholarship to attend the Schulich School of Music of McGill University. Adam has been across the country touring four times and has done two North American tours. Adam has played on several recordings, and appears in music videos broadcast internationally. He lives and works in Vancouver.
This concert is part of a monthly concert series, taking place on the second Thursday of each month at 7pm.
