The event closes with a concert by The Finger Lakes Guitar Quartet at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 5.
The Hudson Valley Community College Guitar Festival is a two-day celebration -- Friday and Saturday, April 4 and 5, 2014 -- of electric, steel and nylon-string style guitars and bass guitar. Workshop facilitators, guitarists and luthiers from the greater Capital Region are participating. The event features various styles of music including blues, bluegrass, classical, flamenco, gypsy, jazz, metal, rock and roll, rhythm and blue, roots, rockabilly and western swing.
Hands-on playing workshops with Graham Tichy, Mark Gamsjager, Christopher Gotzen-Berg, Michael Dimin, Thomasina Winslow, Bernie Mulleda, Mike McMann, Gary Cellucci, Chris Chapman, Joe Lowry, Ray Andrews and Maria Zemantauski are scheduled. Luther Michael Collins leads a workshop with special guests David LaPlante and Eric Marczak, while additional sessions cover guitar set-up, maintenance and special effects.
Performances include a blues jam, MIRK "live," and an open mic hosted by Caroline Motherjudge.
