Meklit Hadero: Soaring, Intimate Vocals
Lyrically focused with intimate, spare arrangements, her music imparts a tenderness towards life, a sweetness that soars.
Meklit is the 2008 recipient of the Arts and Culture Award by the Belle Foundation. She was recently commissioned by the Brava Theater to write music for the world premier production of the play Over the Mountain (opening in April of this year), and will be a resident artist at the de Young museum this coming June. Profiled three times by The San Francisco Chronicle and once by the quarterly arts journal Hoboeye, Meklit has also been featured on KMTP, KPOO and the KPFA Morning Show.
