Short Stories Live: Bloomsbury Group
The influence of the Bloomsbury Group, an early 20th-century collective of English writers, artists, and intellectuals, reached into aesthetics, criticism, economics, and, of course, literature. Influenced themselves by Principia Mathematica and motivated by a rejection of Victorianism, Bloomsberries searched for definitions of the good, the true, and the beautiful and questioned accepted ideas. Chris Sumption directs this program; professional actors read the selected works of noted Bloomsbury writers, who included E.M. Forster, Virginia Woolf, and Lytton Strachey. Presented by Town Hall with A Contemporary Theatre.
