Founded in 1999, Blue Nile has grown to become the largest online retailer of certified diamonds and fine jewelry. Internet Retailer Magazine reports Blue Nile is bigger than the next three largest online jewelers combined.

Kanter has been CEO of Blue Nile since March of 2012. Prior to that, Kanter had been CEO at Madison Heights, Mich.-based Moosejaw Mountaineering since January 2009. He previously was an executive at arts and craft retailer Michaels Stores Inc. as well as a former vice president and managing director of Eddie Bauer Home, a division of Eddie Bauer.
