Beaverton Symphony Orchestra performs La Bohème
Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème is a timeless love story of great joy and deep sorrow, set in the Latin quarter of 19th century Paris, amid a group of four impoverished young artists. In true operatic form the story begins with love, flirts with jealousy and in all likelihood ends in death. Portland Opera to Go joins with the BSO to bring to life the voices of Mimi, Rodolfo, Musetta and the rest of the cast of La Boheme. Portland Opera To Go is the flagship outreach program of the Portland Opera, Oregon's largest and oldest opera company. We seek to provide children, educators and communities with the opportunity to engage in the magical, riveting, rewarding world of opera by producing high quality, accessible programming in communities throughout Oregon and SW Washington. We seek to challenge assumptions about the opera and connect with audiences on a visceral level, through good humor, artistry and enthusiasm. Each school we visit receives classroom time with our talented teaching artists and curriculum designed to meet Oregon Benchmarks and we are aligning with the new Common Core requirements. Each year we visit communities as diverse as Grants Pass, Astoria, Halfway, La Grande, Fossil, Monument, Klamath Fallsif there is a dot on the map where you live, we are willing to go there! We look forward to seeing you at the opera!
