Stapleton Ballet Spring Concert 2014
This year's program will pair the story ballet, "Peter and the Wolf" with Repertory Works. Peter and the Wolf will captivate audiences of all ages as Stapleton Ballet Pre Junior and Junior Company dancers reenact the classic tale, with music by Tchaikovsky and narration by Sean Connery. Set by Charles Torres. Repertory Works features a variety of classical and contemporary pieces, including original choreography from Virginia Stapleton and faculty members Jenny Rand and Ashley Brown. Guest choreographer Cynthia Anne Stanley, from the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, will debut an original piece, "41 Girl Knights" and present an encore performance of "Inlet", which Stapleton Ballet Company first performed in spring 2012. The most advanced dancers, Senior 2 & 3 Company, are continuing their educational study of the father of American Ballet, *George Balanchine© with former New York City Ballet dancer and Balanchine Dance Educator, Wilhelmina Frankfurt. They will be presenting a workshop of excerpts from Jewels, Serenade; and Agon. These presentations are part of a three year Balanchine Educational Project for The Stapleton Ballet Company that will culminate in the licensing of a Balanchine ballet in 2015.
