From the Inside Out...
Gain the physical awareness to intuitively communicate to your audience the internal struggles and victories of a character by learning how to articulate your body in it's full 3-dimensional potential. Through skill-building exercises based on the technique of Etienne Decroux, insight from over a decade of studying and performing physical theatre, and through improvisation, this workshop will give you a practical understanding of how something as simple as the way you stand, the way you shift your weight informs the emotional connection between actor and audience, and how to throw a twist at them.
This workshop is produced by Six Elements Theatre on behalf of the instructor, Kirsten Stephens.
Kirsten Stephens is a graduate of l'Ecole International de Mimodrame de Marcel Marceau in Paris. She has been performing mime and physically-based theatre in the Twin Cities for 14 years, much of that as part of the duo Kirsten and Dean. Her solo show, iMime, There's An App For That was introduced at the MN Fringe and she has toured with it across the country, including NYC and LA last year. She has continued her studies of Decroux in London and the US with corporeal mime masters Steve Wasson and Corinne Soum. She is excited about bringing this expertise to the Twin Cities theatre community.
