La Bestia: Sweet Mother, A Troubadour's Tale - CD Release concert and Modern Dance event
La Bestia: Sweet Mother, a Troubadour's Tale tells the story of Valencia, a Honduran immigrant who suffers indignities and threats to live her dream: coming to the United States to start a new life. It is told as myth, a story within a story within a story, bringing together the timeless and the eternal. The musical component, directed by Desiree Miller and composed by both Desiree (Cello) and Becca Weiss (singer) underscores the libretto with virtuosity and a variety of styles (ranging from medieval minstrel to jazz). The concert will include a special guest appearance by Liz Higgins, who will dance her own original choreography, created for this event. Liz has traveled the world dancing for the Murray Louis and Nikolais Dance Company, as well as dancing at the Joyce Theater (NY), Kennedy Center (DC) and numerous other venues around the country and world.
