BROADWAY COMES TO BROADWAY BOUND CABARET
Several stars from the Broadway stage will travel to Seattle next month to participate in an evening of elegant cabaret to benefit the Broadway Bound Childrens Theatre. Broadway Comes to Broadway Bound will be a one night only performance on Monday, March 23rd at the Broadway Performance Hall.
The star studded roster of Broadway performers will include
Brent Barrett, most recently performed the title role in Hal Princes PHANTOM-THE LAS VEGAS SPECTACULAR. Broadway roles include Billy Flynn in CHICAGO-THE MUSICAL, Frank Butler, opposite Reba McEntire, in the revival of ANNIE GET YOUR GUN. Maximillon in the revival of CANDIDE. Brent was nominated for an Olivier Award for his starring role in the London premiere revival of KISS ME, KATE. His solo concert appearances include the Boston Pops, Minnesota Opera, Opera Pacific, Michigan Opera, Kentucky Opera and the New York Festival of Song at Carnegie Hall.
Bill Nolte, played Franz Liebkind in THE PRODUCERS on Broadway for over two years and was seen as Thomas McKean in the Broadway revival of 1776. Old Deuteronomy in CATS, Richard Mason in JANE EYRE and the Baker in the revival of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR Dreamcoat. His other Broadway credits include AMOUR, THE SECRET GARDEN and ME AND MY GIRL. He recently debuted his solo cabaret concert ALL OF ME at the famous Birdland nightclub in NYC.
Anne Allgood, a favorite of the Seattle stage she recently starred in YOU CANT TAKE IT WITH YOU at the Seattle Rep. Broadway credits include the roles of Rosabella in the revival of MOST HAPPY FELLA, Mrs. Potts in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and Sister Margaretta in THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Anne also appeared at the 5th Avenue Theatre in COMPANY, GYPSY and THE SECRET GARDEN and in the National Tours of URINETOWN, THE MUSICAL and PARADE.
John Tracey Egan, recently appeared on Broadway as Chef Louis in THE LITTLE MERMAID. He had the distinction of starring in three roles in THE PRODUCERS on Broadway as Max Bialystock, Roger Debris and Franz Liebkind. John was in the original Broadway company of JEKYLL AND HYDE. He has been seen on Nation Tours in productions of CATS and KISS ME KATE, and was an original cast member of the Off-Broadway hits WHEN PIGS FLY! And BATBOY THE MUSICAL.
Jerry Dixon, recently starred in the new musical ROMANTIC POETRY at the Manhattan Theatre Club in NYC. On Broadway he was an original cast member of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND as Daniel, and appeared in FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE. He was the Composer and Lyricist for LAUGH WHORE which was nominated for a 2005 Tony Award for Best Theatrical Special Event. Off-Broadway he starred in productions of TICK, TICKBOOM, for which he received a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical, THE BUBBLY BLACK GIRL SHEDS HER CHAMELEON SKIN and BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY.
Rebecca Spencer, recently created the role of Madame Giry in Hal Princes PHANTOM-THE LAS VEGAS SPECTACULAR, and starred as Carlotta in Mr. Princes Hamburg, Germany Company of DAS PHANTOM DER OPER. Rebecca was an original Broadway cast member of JEKYLL AND HYDE appearing in several roles including Lady Beaconsfield and Emma Carew, the latter being the role she created at the Alley Theatre World premiere opposite Linda Eder. Her solo concert appearances include the Syracuse, New Haven, Detroit, Indianapolis and Naples Symphonies, and guest soloist for composer Marvin Hamlisch. Her 2004 debut solo recording, Wide Awake and Dreaming, earned the BACK STAGE Bistro Award.
Philip Fortenberry will be accompany the performers, an acclaimed pianist most appropriately referred to as the most sought after pianist on Broadway. Philip is currently the Associate Conductor for the Las Vegas company of JERSEY BOYS. He also served in that capacity for Las Vegas productions of WE SHALL ROCK YOU, HAIRSPRAY and THE PRODUCERS. Broadway and National Tour credits include CATS, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, RAGTIME, SEUSSICAL-THE MUSICAL, THE LOOK OF LOVE, THOUS SHALT NOT, THE LION KING and SIDE SHOW. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1986 as the pianist/conductor for Eartha Kitt, and returned to Carnegie Hall in 2001 with The Three Irish Tenors for their Christmas concert. Philip has recorded eight solo albums.
Complimentary beer and wine and a variety of hors'douvers will be served to all guests beginning at 5:30pm, followed by a 7:00pm performance. In addition to the stars of the Broadway stage, the evening will also feature Broadway Bound young artists. An auction is now open at www.broadwaybound.org to place bids to sing with a Broadway Star. ONLY FOUR SLOTS AVAILABE!!! Included in the winning bids will be rehearsal with Broadway Bound's Musical Director and a final dress rehearsal onstage, the day of the event, with Founder and Artistic Director Jimmy Nixon, Music Director Philip Fortenberry and THE BROADWAY STAR.
