Taiko Drumming Workshop
Asian Arts Initiative and Kyo Daiko invite you to this hands-on, high-energy workshop for people who want to make some noise! Members of TAIKOPROJECT will offer an introduction to the joyful art of Japanese (and American) taiko drumming, including basic stances and simple rhythms. Recommended for ages 14 and up. No prior musical experience necessary.
Founded in 2000 by Bryan Yamami with the concept of bringing together the best young generation of taiko players in North America, TAIKOPROJECT has appeared on films and TV, has toured with wide acclaim nationally and internationally, and has the distinction of being the only American taiko group to win First Place in the prestigious Tokyo International Taiko Contest and to perform at the Academy Awards.
