Fake Radio Presents: Phil Proctor from The Firesign Theatre in The Lux Radio Theatre's "Stage Door"
Phil Proctor, from the legendary comedy troupe The Firesign Theatre, joins the cast of Fake Radio as we proudly present "Stage Door" from the original 1939 Lux Radio Theatre's broadcast.
Stage Door tells the story of several would-be actresses who live together in a boarding house in New York City. The RKO film stared Katharine Hepburn, Ginger Rogers and Lucille Ball. Eve Arden and Ann Miller played minor characters. Proctor performs the role of the show within a shows producer, Anthony Powell.
"Fake Radio" is a troupe of talented actors, comedians and notable guest stars who re-create live, staged versions of radio broadcasts from the 1930's - 1950's. Performances use actual transcripts from the radio shows, including all of the original commercials. One part historical and one part hysterical, these shows recapture a lost era while introducing new generations to a classic art form.
Since Fake Radios founding in 2000 numerous notable guest stars have appeared with the troupe including: Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Mindy Sterling (Austin Powers films), Mark McKinney (The Kids in the Hall), Dean Cain (The New Adventures of Superman), Debra Wilson, (MadTV), Marcia Wallace ( The Simpsons", "The Bob Newhart Show), John Lynch (The Drew Carey Show, Fargo), Denny Siegel (Whose Line is it Anyway?), noted comediennes Maria Bamford and Cathy Ladman, and others.
