Lula Washington Dance Theatre - Dances For Your Soul
Lula Washington, whose work has been celebrated for nearly five decades, will take you on a dance journey that explores the African American Experience in exciting and uplifting ways.
Celebrating LWDT's Next Generation, we will share excerpts from "Sweet, Suite Nina", a compilation of works by Lula Washington; LWDT Associate Director, Tamica Washington-Miller and next generation choreographers Ongelle Johnson and Danny Guerrero.
The company will reprise is moving historical work, "Pages," created by Lula Washington to to commemorate the inaugural Federal Juneteenth Day of Observance of the end of slavery.
Experience "Master Plan", choreographed by Lula Washington as a meditation and spiritual quest in tribute to legendary saxophonist, Pharaoh Sanders.
Excerpts from TODAY is a suite that explores the racial reckoning brought on by the killing of George Floyd; the growth of Asian hate in America; and the plight of immigrants trying to find freedom in America, only to be turned away. Despite it all, the closing cry of all mistreated people is that "I Will Survive!" despite it all.
