'Wedding Gowns With History' presented by Karen Tierney of StudioTrousseau
The Pardee Museum Salon presents a fashion show with the modeling of vintage and vintage inspired fashions by Studio Trousseau founder, Karen Tierney. Coming from a 20 year background in fine art and graphic design, Karen has refocused her skills into the restoration of vintage textiles and design and production of gowns based on historic reference. Her interest and study of historic sewing stems from the need to have historically accurate gowns for performance in a group called Danse Libre. This was the beginning of Studio Trousseau (https://www.facebook.com/karentierney.studiotrousseau/). Karen has displayed vintage inspired gowns in Europe, has lectured on the history of 19th century fashion and was a former Board Member of Lacis, Museum of Lace and Textiles in Berkeley, California. One of her focuses is working with brides who have family gowns that need to be restored, resized and redesigned so they can be worn again. She also creates custom gowns, veils and head pieces, and repairs delicate laces. Karen will be showing and discussing many restored family heirloom wedding gowns ranging from 1883 to 1968 and new historically referenced wedding gowns ranging from 1810 to 1930. They will be brought to life by several models, some of which are the brides who wore them. This elegant fashion show should be a fascinating and memorable occasion. We want to focus on the models so please no costumes.
A champagne reception with sweets & savories will follow under our mature oak trees and spring garden.
