Puss in Boots: After Dark
Inspired by commedia dell'arte, this original, devised musical was created by Soft Brain Theatre Company over the course of five months. A comical fairy tale with music, quest-making, and buffoonery!
Our production of Puss in Boots: After Dark is a devised musical inspired by the original fairytales that exist in the public domain. (Sorry Dreamworks, we're not your Puss!)
When Constantino discovers a forgotten pair of boots in the back of his closet, he is transported into a different world. In this Night World, the Faerie King forces both Constantino and Puss on a quest to find the key to break a long foretold prophecy. As Puss battles her past as an outlaw, rebel, and troublemaker, Constantino races against the magic of a world he doesn't know.
Soft Brain Theatre Company's adaptation features a score of original music.

About Soft Brain Theatre Company:
Soft Brain Theatre Company (SBTC) was founded in late 2021 as a direct response to the post-pandemic theatre landscape in New York City. Started by a group of NYU Tisch School of the Arts pandemic graduates who are fiercely passionate about physical acting, SBTC aims to bring laughter, joy, and playfulness back to audiences in a way that both resurrects a childhood sense of wonder, and gently reflects on the current cultural context. The purpose of SBTC is to remind audiences of the necessity of Play, and to encourage them to welcome more lightness of heart and softer thoughts into our ever-hardening world. SBTC aims to revitalize the oft-forgotten artforms of clown and commedia dellarte, and reinvigorates them for a 21st-century audience.
