Marty Glickman spent his career calling games for the Yankees, Dodgers, Knicks, Jets, Rangers, Mets, and other teams. He was a sportscaster's sportscaster and a broadcasting institution. Prior to his broadcasting career, however, Glickman was an Olympian, scheduled to run the 4x100 meter relay at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He was removed from the event to mollify Hitler.
This Martin Scorsese film tells the story not only of the travesty of the 1936 Olympics, but also of a remarkable career, fascinating even to non-sports fans. The film includes appearances by Louis Zamperini, fellow Olympian runner and WWII P.O.W., Larry King, Jerry Stiller, Bob Costas, and Marv Albert.
