Small Sheep Flock Improvement with Pierre Monnat of M&P Ranches: This day long hands-on clinic will introduce new sheep producers and established sheep producers to a variety of topics with which to hone skills necessary to maintaining a healthy and productive flock of sheep. We will focus on a few key areas, with an emphasis on a goal-oriented approach to a healthy flock of sheep. Questions and goals are what inevitably drive many of our management and business decisions. What market am I trying to serve? How can I increase the yield and make my wool finer? Where can I get my specialty breed wool processed? How can I better set-up my handling system in order to make sheep flow better? We will cover some of the most important topics in order to try to answer some of these questions. Breeding and selection, feed and feed additives, pasture and rangeland use, lambing management, shearing and wool handling, basic veterinary care, and business management will be some of the topics covered.
