$150 Cash Prize for Funniest Story

LOCATION: Busboys and Poets 14/V (2021 14th St NW)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Pre-selected (http://www.storyleague.org/submit-a-story) storytellers and Members (http://www.storyleague.org/storystore) get in for $10. Everyone else gets in for $12.

Seven storytellers will have 7 minutes to tell a true, personal funny story on the theme "shady" (whatever that means to you). No notes or props are allowed. The Judges' favorite will be announced at the end of the night and will receive a $150 Cash Prize. The audience will also select its favorite. Both winners go on to compete in Story League ALL-STARS (tournament) where the prize jumps to $300! And the winners will also be featured on our podcast, "Story League WINNERS" (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/story-league-winners/id789423889?mt=2).

Submit your 100-word story synopsis here for a chance to compete: http://www.storyleague.org/submit-your-story. Deadline is Wednesday, May 14 at 3 o'clock. Our 3 expert judges will consider all story idea submissions and decide which stories they most wish to hear. You will be notified by Friday, May 16, whether you are guaranteed to go on.

Also: 2 storytellers will be selected randomly at the contest.

Pre-selected storytellers will be strongly encouraged to do a phone coaching session for their story.

IMPORTANT: Seating cannot be guaranteed for any ticket holder after 9:00. Line forms approx. 8:30 and doors open at 8:45. See photo/video/audio release on ticket page.
