Singing Mother Trees
Walk in a rare undisturbed old growth forest 4 miles from downtown Olympia at Squaxin park. After a welcome to the land and guided meditation, we'll stroll in silence, and tune into the sights and sounds of towering over 70-year-old trees. Explore an easy 1.1 mile trail at a comfortable pace under the canopy of a living forest that is a thriving ecosystem, a network of soil fungi, called the "Wood Wide Web."
Did you know that trees communicate under the ground? Did you know that Old Growth Trees are drawing down more climate pollution than other trees? What is biomimicry? Who are tree activists from around the world and what are they doing to help us save trees? Are forests in trouble? What is it about a trees make up that will allow me to let you hear it sing?
We will wander and sit in Squaxin Park to answer these questions. Feel revitalized, connected, and centered after a short meditation. We say farewell and celebrate together knowing most of the funds from this experience are donated to the Friends of Trees non-profit.
