Since 2010, Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center (BMCM+AC) has hosted the {Re}HAPPENING inspired by John Cages "Theatre Piece No. 1" (1952), an unscripted performance at Black Mountain College considered by many to be the first Happening. This year we are thrilled to present the 11th annual {Re}HAPPENING.
The {Re}HAPPENING is a day-long event at the historic campus of Black Mountain College, 15 minutes from Asheville. It is part art event, part fundraiser, and part community instigator, providing a platform for contemporary artists to share their response to the vital legacy of Black Mountain College by returning to its original site in the present day.
Hundreds of visitors of all ages attend the event each year. In addition to providing a forum for regional artists and an accessible, immersive, educational experience for attendees, the {Re}HAPPENING offers opportunities for guests to interact with artists, local businesses, and arts organizations.

Accessibility
All participants are welcome, but please note that the site might pose some challenges for those with limited mobility, wheelchairs or strollers. The majority of the event occurs on uneven terrain and events are spaced out across the campus. Ramps are available in some areas but not all.
Projects often include instances of flashing lights and immersive, sometimes sudden noise.
