Music of Johnny Hartman Featuring Vocalist Devon Sandridge
*We must have a minimum of 10 guests to host our concerts. Refunds will be issued in the event the minimum has not been met 24 hours prior to scheduled concert.

Join a small audience of 10-18 guests for an intimate, live jazz concert in the cozy home of hosts, Pat Mallinger and Tamara Wiley. Help yourself to a glass of wine or beer before settling down in a comfy seat.  Sit back, relax and enjoy two sets of world-class jazz performed by a group of world-class musicians assembled by Pat. During intermission, refresh your drinks, mingle with the other guests and musicians while enjoying fresh fruit and chocolate fondue.

Make a night of it! Pat and Tammy's home is an 1895 remodeled cottage, located in Logan Square, Chicago's hottest neighborhood. They are within walking distance of the Blue Line train; free parking is easy to find near their home. Plan a full evening in the neighborhood and start with dinner at any of many fabulous local restaurants within walking distance including Lula Cafe, Buona Terra, Cafe Con Leche, Namaste, Longman and Eagle, The Whale, Reno, Daisies or Mi Tocaya Antojería. Also a number of breweries including Bixi, Revolution and Ravinia.

Hosting over 50 house concerts hundreds of guests have enjoyed a different ensemble and experience each time. Some of the many musicians that guests have heard include the late great Bob Dogan, Dennis Carroll, Bobby Lewis, Jim Rotondi, Juli Wood, Sabertooth, Jim Ryan, Stewart Miller, Brad Williams, Ron Perillo, Ernie Adams, Dennis Luxion, Matt Ferguson, Clark Sommers, Jeremy Kahn, Brian O'Hern, Joe Adamack, Kelly Brand, Kelly Sill, Pete Benson, Joan Hickey, Lucianno Antonio, Alfonso Ponticelli, Joel Spencer, Stephanie Aaron, Paul Bolger, Andy Distel, and Hinda Hoffman.

Pat can be seen at clubs all over the city and was the co-leader of Sabertooth, the late night Saturday band for 26 years at the famous Green Mill Jazz Cocktail Lounge.

Here is what some of their guests have said:

"This was our 3rd or 4th attendance at Pat Mallinger's home for the private jazz concert. It was part of our Valentines Day weekend of festivities and it started off our weekend very nicely. I am amazed how the musicians who don't necessarily play together on a regular basis are able to present the music experience as if they had played with each other every day.As I have said before, intimate venue you can't find anywhere else. Wonderful people. There were 12 attendees, who were all friendly and enjoyed the experience as well. All I can really say is that words will not convey the experience, you should just go and see for yourself." Luaunna

"This is one of the coolest ideas for entertainment. All the musicians were top notch. The hospitality was great too." Steven

"What a magical evening! To be with esteemed jazz artists in an at-home, private concert setting is beyond description. Host and leader (on saxophones) Pat Mallinger opens his home for a unique and (ok, I too will use the term) intimate jazz performance accompanied by some of the area's finest jazz performers - just incredible. Nancy and I highly recommend this experience."
Curtis

"Such a great evening. In the comfortable surroundings of Pat and Tammy's home, listening to the music played by these wonderful musicians was a terrific experience. Thanks to you all!"
Julie

"My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and experience. Pat and his wife were gracious hosts. The intimate nature of the performance was unique. The neighborhood was also quite charming, with a variety of neat places to dine. Highest recommendations."
Daniel

"You don't have to be a jazz enthusiast to enjoy this experience. Picture going to the Green Mill (but only having to share the experience with 8-10 other people) because Pat is already booked at the Green Mill once or twice a week. These aren't just a couple of guys reliving their heyday; there is incredible musical talent assembled within feet of you to enjoy. It was a great unique date night and there are plenty of restaurants a walkable distance from their house."
Robert

"Wonderful evening! It was a wonderful night of jazz, highly recommended." Kathy

"Highly recommend this to anyone who really enjoys listening to jazz. Pat and his band were awesome, and we could hear every nuance without a crowded bar to hear over. It's like a private concert at a friend's house!
Alan

"What a thoroughly delightful evening! We felt quite warmly welcomed and truly enjoyed every minute."
Janice

"My kids gave me this evening for my birthday. Was a great gift! My husband and I felt like we were in our own personal concert venue and were "hanging out" with the band. The musicians were all so talented and the music was absolutely amazing and the venue was intimate. Highly recommend."
Susan

"We couldn't have had a better time! The hosts were very welcoming, and the experience of sharing amazing jazz with others in such an intimate environment was something special."
Shraadha

"We spent a lovely evening at this private concert. You won't find a better listening venue anywhere in Chicago and, of course, the musicians were great."
Anita

"This was our second experience with Pat Mallinger, and I think it conveys how much we enjoyed our evening by saying I can't wait for the next one. An intimate gathering place, an informal setting (meaning the performers were relaxed and there is interaction between crown and musicians). Pat is very laid back and approachable. The piano player was fabulous, but all the musicians were. I enjoyed the whole set of songs, especially DinDi (gingi)."
Luaunna

"What a great experience it was to hear Pat Mallinger and his very talented band of musicians up close and personal last evening. My husband and I were warmly welcomed and made to feel like valued guests in their home, a downstairs space in which the environment was comfortably set and the acoustics excellent! At the risk of sounding hokey, the music, the vibe, and the whole scene were awesome and made us hum through and through. It's often hard to pry my hubby away from home once the sun goes down, but he has already thanked me a number of times for doing so on this occasion, and said he'll look forward to doing it again soon! Thanks, Pat and Tammy and fellas, for an outstanding date with my man. It doesn't get much better than this!"
Carol

"This is a really intimate and fantastic evening for a great price! You'll never be this close and personal with the musicians, no matter what club you visit. Hearing the musicians talk about their background and interact with the audience in such a personal way is unbeatable. And the jazz is world class (I don't throw that around lightly.) This evening would make a great birthday or anniversary gift too. We can't wait to come back and bring our friends."
Darcy

"This was an evening that will stay with me for some time. As much as I've enjoyed the jazz art form in recordings, big venues and smaller clubs, this intimate setting was a perfect one to hear this wonderful music. Pat and Tammy couldn't have been more gracious and welcoming. The music was top notch and the back stories of the players only added to the intimacy of the evening. The real topper for me was Pat & Co. playing a wonderful rendition of "My Romance" for my wife and I. Bravo!!!"
Tom

"The evening was a surprise gift, and I couldn't have imagined a better one. Pat and his guest musicians were all welcoming before they started playing. Pat and Tammy's home is wonderfully well set up for hosting this kind of show and they themselves are excellent hosts. Halfway through the show the band took a breather, but spent their time socializing with everyone as we had wine and fondu (great touch). Oh and also there was some amazing music that happened throughout the night. REALLY amazing music. It was a wonderful evening from tip to tail, and I couldn't endorse it more strongly."
Ryan

"This was an amazing experience. It was an amazing look into the Chicago Jazz community. Cannot recommend highly enough." Hanna

"What a special and intimate evening. Great for jazz enthusiasts or people who just love a casual evening full of incredible live music. Pat, Tamara (and Sunny) were wonderful hosts. We had a great time!" Nina

"Excellent night filled with wonderful melodies, charming anecdotes, and great company. Tammy's chocolate fondue was as much a pleasure to my palate as Pat's tunes were to my ears. I highly recommend this evening."
Cathryn

"This was such a great evening! The setting was very intimate and comfortable. Pat and his band were absolutely fantastic and took the time to say hello and talk to everyone in the room. They had a good selection of red and white wines as well as beer. The chocolate fondue seems almost like a bonus to a wonderful event. This was a great experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys music. This is a great setting for a date night!" Nicholas

"We are not saying this intimate, almost private concert will ruin us for going to Jazz at Symphony Center, but it sure is a wonderful experience to sit 15 feet away from amazing musicians and watch as they decide what to play, and then play it, seemingly effortlessly and as if they practiced that arrangement for hours. If you have any interest in Chicago Jazz, make tracks to Pat Mallinger's home the next time he hosts a jazz night with artists such as pianist Jimmy Ryan, drummer Mike (I am sorry I cannot remember Mike's last name, something like Schmick,) and bass player Kelly (Last-name-unremembered). The group might change from one evening to the next, but you can be sure these are all top musicians allowing you to experience their talents so closely and personally. And Tammy Mallinger's decadent chocolate fondue is the perfect thing to enjoy when the quartet pauses."
Marybeth

"I have to say thank you Pat for the very special night that we had in your house. I can not find the words to describe how nice it was."
Paulina

"We had the amazing good fortune to visit Pat Mallinger's home to enjoy a jazz concert with Pat on saxophone and, briefly, clarinet, the incredible Jimmy Ryan on piano, Stuart Miller on bass and Mike Schlick on drums. To hear musicians of this high caliber play ten feet away and take requests from their adoring fans is an experience any jazz lover should try to experience. They played a tribute to Dave Brubeck which was the highlight of a night awash in highlights. During the 'pause', Pat's lovely wife Tamara served us chocolate fondue and drinks. This touch reinforced the feeling that we were sitting in on an impromptu jam by jazz masters. 1/24 is the next concert. I hope we make it!" Marybeth

"What a great night! As if listening to Pat and the band play wasn't perfect enough....watching them interact and share stories in such an intimate setting made it a truly special experience. Highly recommend!"
Liz

"Had a wonderful experience. The music as fantastic. Pat and his family were very welcoming."

Nancy
