TWENTY TUDOR TERRACE, a Staged Reading
In the eighteen eighties approximately 1400 Jews have fled anti-Semitic violence in their homeland of Lithuania to end up in Dublin, Ireland, then part of the British Empire. The Shapiro family have been among the first to arrive and their children have grown up seeing themselves as Jewish Dubliners. The siblings' friendship with a Protestant neighbour develops into a romance with one of the daughters, unacceptable in Jewish law. Against the background of a rising push for Irish home rule and a growing movement for Women's suffrage, the family attempts to deal with this unexpected situation.

PLAYWRIGHT BIO: Brian Richardson grew up in the Dublin area and emigrated to North America in the mid nineteen sixties. He graduated from the State University in Potsdam, N.Y., after which he attended an acting class at the Studio Arena Theatre School in Buffalo while teaching high school nearby. At the end of a year he decided to seek work as an actor rather than continue as a teacher. He found work in Montreal, Quebec, then in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and ended up in Winnipeg where he became a member of a theatre collective, Confidential Exchange. The group performed original material developed by the members, individually and as an improvisation troupe, Radio, television, and stage were all part of the group's work. Brian went on to found a theatre company, Agassiz Theatre, and later helped create a cross-cultura,l multi-disciplinary company, Fusion Dance Theatre, A number of Brian's plays were produced by both companies. Folk music was another aspect of his work and he played in several bands over the years, as well as spending nine years with the Winnipeg Folk Festival as a main stage host. Over twenty years experience in Museum Theatre as a playwright, artistic director, and actor further broadened his professional portfolio. Brian continues to play an active role in his adopted city of Winnipeg's thriving theatre scene, as a playwright, storyteller, and actor.
