SPRING! A Wee Open Floor Day
SPRING!  A Wee Open Floor Day
Sunday 12 March  12 noon  4pm Kinning Park Complex, Glasgow

ABOUT
Celebrating the lengthening days and responding to the energies of new growth, Collective Endeavours and friends present SPRING!- A Wee Open Floor Day, a family-friendly afternoon of improvised music and movement workshops and performances. We share our approach to improvisation and collective decision making, opening it up to participants of all ages. There will be food and time for chat.

The event features a performance from special guest Ali Robertson and a ContaKids workshop led by Monika Smekot. Thi is a class for parents and children to develop trust and relationship through movement. Contakids is a methodology that pushes the idea of using physical contact to develop a deeper form of communication between parents and their children, that both will find enjoyable. By working with bodily movements, the child can enhance their motor skills and self-confidence, while the parents get to develop a bond of trust with their young ones.

WHO

Ali Robertson is an Edinburgh-based improviser and organiser who, for more than twenty years, has often, but not exclusively, worked under the Giant Tank banner or in the duo Usurper to make hundreds of events and experimental recordings that exist on the periphery of music incorporating elements of composition, chance, performance, comedy, visual art and storytelling. Since 2018, Ali has been playing with Glasgow's inclusive new music group Sonic Bothy as a member of both their Ensemble and Learning Space programmes.

Monika Smekot is a Glasgow based dance and video artist curious about how the body can talk and hear and how the mind can be moved by bones and muscles.  Inspired by sustainability of creative process and a belief that we can learn and find answers by listening to what we already have. Monika is a mum of two children, she trained in Contakids with Itay Yatuv in 2019 and is currently teaching regular class in Southside.

SUPPORT
SPRING!  A Wee Open Floor Day is supported with seed funding from The Work Rooms Beyond Fund. Beyond is a seed funding initiative, designed to help nurture and kick start artist led projects which connect more people to dance.
