Trinity Universitys Department of Human Communication and Theatre presents the South Texas premiere of Aaron Posners STUPID F#@KING BIRD from April 21 - 29 in The Stieren Theatre.
Passion, angst, intrigue, and betrayal about...art? In STUPID F#@KING BIRD, a young playwright rages against the theatre of the older generation. His movie-star mother competes with his actress girlfriend in a deathmatch over a famous novelist. And everyone discovers that life, love, and art, are (as the song goes) . . . disappointing. Aaron Posner's irreverent and hilarious remix of Chekhov's THE SEAGULL stages a family feud between past and present, old and young, in search of the true meaning of it all. Original songs composed by James Sugg draw the infamously subtextual emotions of Chekhovs characters to the surface in all their glory. STUPID F#@KING BIRD will tickle, tantalize, and incite you to consider how art, love, and revolution fuel your own pursuit of happiness.
Trinity Theatres production is directed by Dr. Stacey Connelly. The shows scenic design is by Martha PeƱaranda, costumes by Kellie Grengs, and lighting by Andrew Lopez.
For mature audiences only: this play contains strong language, references to suicide, and gun shot sound effects.
