Project Planning February 8, 2014 Go through a visioning process to get your dreams out of your head and on to paper. Erika Allen, a trained art therapist, will walk you through making your dreams a reality. You will walk away from the process with a detailed mind and relationship map, and a tool-kit to get your ideas off the ground. We will also focus on fine tuning business plans and developing viable farm plans for the first year of farming, including crop plans and production goals.
Sell Sell Sell Marketing Your Farm March 1, 2014 We will develop market strategies and look at market opportunities from restaurant sales to local farmers markets. Participants will learn about retail and direct sales and learn how to set up a farmers market.
Greens: Good for your Health and Wallet; Farm Financing March 8, 2014 Learn how to manage your cash flow and set up budgeting and record keeping. We will discuss invoicing, micro-loans, grant writing and reporting.
Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Training April 5, 2014 Learn about the certification required by institutional buyers for wholesale purchasing. Participants will gain an understanding of all the components necessary to create a food safety plan for your farm. We will also demonstrate safe harvesting and post-harvest handling, modeling good sanitation practices. We will tour Iron St. Farm and discuss best practices for GAP farm management.
Dismantling Racism in the Food System April 10-12,2013 This training is designed to build a community of leaders who are enabled to take action and provide intensive training and dialogue that facilitates anti-racism.
