Baltic Fleet, Kontakte & Russian Gun Dogs
Oh yes...do we have a treat in store for you!!

Headlining the night is the magnificent Baltic Fleet!

Self described as 'The psychedelic mid-point between Joy Division and Daft Punk', BALTIC FLEET is the moniker of multi-instrumentalist and DIY producer Paul Fleming who returned in 2012 with his second album 'Towers' the follow up to the critically acclaimed self-titled debut which was a Rough Trade Shop Record of the Year. 'Towers' appeared in several 2012 End of Year Polls and this April Baltic Fleet was awarded the Liverpool GIT Award 2013, dubbed the 'Scouse Mercury Prize' by The Quietus.

Paul Fleming has brought together like-minded musicians to take Baltic Fleet on the road, and the band have since played around the UK and Europe, shows including Liverpool International Festival Of Psychedelia, Soundcity,Sheffield Sensoria, Club Paradiso's annual 'London Calling' in Amsterdam, as well as being invited to play at Rough Trade East's 1st Birthday Celebrations. Last year the band were invited to play with Public Service Broadcasting,Hookworms and played the closing night of Liverpool Soundcity 2013.

Supporting Baltic Fleet we have Kontakte!

Conceived in 2005 from a string of old 4-track demos and further realized via a labyrinth of digital workstations and computer software, Kontakte emerged in early 2006. The concept was to blend organic instrumentation within an electronic and hypnotic framework of programmed beats and pulsing synths. Inspired by the walls of sound of bands like Godspeed You Black Emperor and Mogwai, Kontakte's other main passions were the ambient sounds of Brian Eno, mid-late 70's German electronica and the early 90's shoegaze scene. Taking elements from all of these things, Kontakte have endeavoured to create a sound that is uniquely and deservedly their own.

Having released two albums to date - 'We Move Through Negative Spaces' (2011) & 'Soundtracks To Lost Road Movies' (2008) plus the already SOLD OUT Limited Edition EP Superbug (2010) and two early 7" vinyl singles - Kontakte continue to deliver on their initial promise of their own brand of 'hypnotic, textural, cinematic noise'.

Kontakte have been remixed by such luminaries as Tim Holmes of Death In Vegas, Chris Olley of Six. By Seven, Clem Leek, Winterlight, A Dancing Beggar, Russel.M.Harmon and labelmates Oppressed By The Line & Matt Bartram.
An appearance on the Northern Star Records compilation series 'Revolution In Sound' continued in 2011.
The Kontakte live experience is a blistering wall of guitar noise with shimmering electronics and ethereal melodies  a band to savour. Kontakte have toured the UK and Germany, headlined the Feedback Fever Festival in Hamburg and consistently play intense live shows.

And opening the proceedings we have Russian Gun Dogs!

Hailing from Coventry, Russian Gun Dogs have created a big buzz around them with many tipping them for big things and, having already built up a large following on the local live music scene, their reputation continues to go before them.
2013 saw them play Godiva Festivals main stage on Saturday afternoon supporting Reverend and The Makers as well as releasing their debut single, Survive on iTunes.
Russian Gun Dogs are a dark-wave indie band in the style of Editors, The Big Pink and White Lies. They play dance influenced indie rock with huge anthemic choruses. Over the last year they have created a real buzz and a great reputation around their hometown of Coventry for their big songs and energetic live performances. A reputation which recently has spread across to Birmingham, in the form of a support slot with MMX.
They have recently supported bands such as Spector, The Pigeon Detectives, previous Godiva Festival headliners 'Ash', Twisted Wheel andThe Other Tribe. Their track 'Survive' was also included on BBC Introducing's 'Pick of the Year' playlist for 2013.

With Goodsoul DJ set as well, this is going to be another absolutely cracking night of music!
