Professional Training: Energy Code 2022 Update
Presented by:
VCA Green

Learn about new changes to Californias Energy Code, where the State is headed with regards to carbon neutrality, and how energy code changes are impacting the design process.

Learning Objectives:

1.Learn about the new code changes that impact new construction projects starting January 1, 2023, and what are Californias long term plans regarding carbon neutrality. New prescriptive requirements will be added to the Code - Solar PV, battery backup, energy/heat recovery ventilators, and heat pump water heaters to name a few.  We anticipate first costs to increase as will return on investment.

2.Understand how to mitigate escalating construction costs through enhanced building modeling and affective Energy Code testing processes.

3.Review the all-electric pathway and how the Code will consider a building as Electric ready.  Discuss how buildings can remove gas infrastructure and take advantage of electrification with renewable energy to deliver return on investment.

4.How to communicate energy code changes with your clients/stakeholders, and how to begin programming for new code changes.

5.Help answer any questions you may have.

Responsible for overseeing and managing a team of highly skilled project managers offering services that include California green building code, building commissioning, LEED, energy modeling and sustainability programs.  Utilizes general contracting experience (licensed general contractor) and deep code knowledge to help project teams navigate unforeseen challenges and potential scope creep.  Moe is also Certified Passive House Tradesperson. Perform return on investment-based enhanced energy modeling, which significantly reduces first costs and reduces potential delays in design.  Once the building is built, Moe and his team perform energy assessment and warranty evaluations, which leads to favorable cost reductions.
Provides guidance and training for building design and construction stakeholders who are navigating green and energy codes through early entitlement phase through to operations and maintenance (Post C of O) phase. Accomplished speaker and presenter. Hosts educational events to inform architects & developers on recent changes to energy codes and trends in sustainability. Moe holds a masters degree in urban design with an emphasis in sustainability from San Diego State University.
