Jabberwock Cotillion 2009
Jabberwock Cotillion: An evening of dinner, celebration and recognition.
In his immortal classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll created the character known as The Jabberwock. As the story unfolded, each year, The Jabberwock summoned all the creatures of his kingdom to put on a show: a gala event.
Similarly, Delta Sigma Theta "Jabberwock" is offered as an evening of elegance for all and recognition of many.
Conceived by Marion Hope Conover in 1925, members of the Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority presented a variety of performers who competed for prizes. The proceeds from the event were used to support scholarships for deserving students. From this successful venture, Delta Jabberwock was born and would soon be copyrighted and become part of the Delta tradition. For Boston Alumnae, Jabberwock takes the form of a Leadership Development Program and Cotillion Gala to recognize, honor and support young ladies in their junior and senior years of highschool.
