Exploring Fungal Diversity in the Modern Era
Documenting Fungal Diversity in the Digital Age
Fungi are the second largest group of eukaryotic organisms on Earth, providing essential ecosystem services throughout the world. The understanding of their biodiversity and biogeographical distribution is still limited, however, and only a small number of online databases documenting fungal organisms exist. The Mycology Collections Portal (MyCoPortal) was established in 2011 to help alleviate these issues and currently serves data online for over 9 million fungal records: documenting the diversity of fungi and their distributions across the globe. Join Dr. Bates as we explore this important group of organisms and his role over the course of the last decade in developing MyCoPortal (https://www.mycoportal.org), and other digital fungal resources, as part of the National Science Foundation's Advancing Digitization of Biological Collections program.

Program is free. Non-members must pay arboretum admission fee of $10 per carload upon entry. Registration is required! Due to unpredictable winter weather, please register so that we can contact you if the program has been canceled. There is no fee to register.
