Maiden, Mother, Crone: A Tale of Queen Margaret
Margaret of Anjou is Shakespeare's longest-running character and a central figure of the Wars of the Roses. She is captured on a battlefield and miraculously brought to England to become Henry VI's queen. Little does she know that her husband the King is infirm of mind and essentially unfit to rule his country. When Henry, out of fear, deposes his own son and grants the succession of the crown to the powerful Duke of York, Margaret gathers an army and leads them to battle against the Yorks to protect her son's claim. Bloody battles sweep the nation and the crown is tossed back and forth between powerful families. Who wins? Who loses? And how can a woman survive using only her wits and her will? Join the Rogues and experience this exciting and tumultuous period of history as they set it against a Game of Thrones backdrop. Gorgeous medieval costumes and exciting fights help complete the picture. This script is an original adaptation by CST's Artistic Director and Founder, Diana Green. She began by collecting all the scenes from the Henry VI and Richard III plays in which Margaret appeared and editing them together to tell a continuous story. The addition of original choral pieces in which three facets of Margaret speak to each other and also together provide clues to the pieces of the story in between.
