Jenny and Gary -- the Squirrel Hillbillies (http://www.squirrelhillbillies.com/) -- are returning to the SongSpace stage in January!  From deep within the urban forest of Pittsburgh's East End, the Squirrel Hillbillies often emerge to share their eclectic mix of acoustic roots music, spanning folk, country and blues.  Rabidly social and clawingly curious, they relish opportunities to interact with diverse audiences. They have performed hundreds of shows across the US and the UK.

Jenny Wolsk grew up in Greenwich Village listening to Casey Kasem and dabbling in musical theater. In college she joined a co-ed acapella singing group, acquiring an ear for harmony and an interest in arranging music. Shes immersed herself in Americana now but she continues to derive way too much pleasure from singing along to top 40 radio with her daughters.

Gary Crouth was born in a sleepy town in upstate New York back when the President was an army general and people talked seriously about bomb shelters and communists. He picked up the guitar around the 5th grade, mainly because it looked nothing like an accordion. His first gig was singing and playing banjo on a replica packet boat on the Erie Canal. His style is deeply rooted in traditional and contemporary acoustic music, early country, and sixties pop songs.

The show will open with two more Pittsburgh treasures, Louie Castle and Madeline Jo & Friends. Madeline Jo and Friends have played all around town, from James Simon's Sculpture Studio to the Millvale Music Festival. Infectious indie folk!  You can hear Louie Castle's blend of Latin roots, rap, psychedelic rock, gospel and freestyling everywhere from The Saturday Light Brigade community radio show to The Abbey in Lawrenceville and The Rocks Landing Bar & Grille in McKeesport.  Find them both on Facebook!

It's a feast of Pittsburgh winter cheer!  You won't want to miss it!
