GET A HORSE Directed by: Lauren MacMullan, USA, 6 min Walt Disney Animation Studios' innovative new short "Get A Horse!" is a contemporary homage to the first animated shorts featuring Mickey Mouse, with all-new, black-and-white, hand-drawn animation that's paired with full-color, 3D, CG filmmakingin the same frame.
MR. HUBLOT Directed by: Laurent Witz, Alexandre Espigares, France,11 min Mr Hublot lives in a world where characters are made partially of mechanical parts, driving huge vehicles, rub shoulders with each other. A withdrawn, idiosyncratic character with OCD, Mr Hublot is scared of change and the outside world. His solution: he doesn't step foot outside his apartment! The arrival of the dog Robot Pet will turn his life upside down.
FERAL Directed by: Daniel Sousa, USA, 13 min A wild boy is found in the woods by a solitary hunter and brought back to civilization. Alienated by a strange new environment, the boy tries to adapt by using the same strategies that kept him safe in the forest.
POSSESSIONS, Directed by: Shuhei Morita, Japan Possessions is a sometimes somber, sometimes frantic but ultimately rewarding story about a weary traveler seeking shelter from a storm, who happens upon an old shrine filled with a host of broken tools in various states of disrepair. He shows tremendous skill as he sets about repairing all manner of items, whose spirits harbor old grudges that are not easily appeased. The film's visually stunning fantasy sequences and clever ending are both poignant and well designed.
ROOM ON THE BROOM Directed by: Max Lang, Jan Lachauer, UK, 25 min Julia Donaldson's picture book is the story of a kind witch who invites animals to join her on her broom. Gillian Anderson, Rob Brydon, Martin Clunes, Sally Hawkins, Simon Pegg (the narrator), Timothy Spall and David Walliams all have speaking roles in the film adaptation which is directed by Max Lang and Jan Lachauer. The music was composed by René Aubry. Donaldson's book The Gruffalo's Child was adapted into a Oscar nominated short animation film for 2013.
