Music by Leonard Bernstein Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim Book by Arthur Laurents Directed by Adam Othman Music Direction by Huntley Beyer Choreography by Heather Dawson
Seattle Prep Drama presents one of the greatest love stories and finest theatre accomplishments of all time, the landmark Broadway musical, West Side Story! Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to modern-day New York City, as two young idealistic lovers Tony and Maria, find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the "American" Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time. The Bernstein and Sondheim score is considered to be one of Broadway's best and features such classics of the American musical theatre as "Something's Coming," "Tonight," "America," "I Feel Pretty" and "Somewhere."
