Festival of the Silk Road 2014
Afsaneh Art & Culture Society/Ballet Afsaneh proudly presents the 6th annual Festival of the Silk Road - 2014 at the Mexican Heritage Plaza Theater in San Jose.
Concerts with star performers, International Foods, Folk Dance Mania, Costumes & Art!
Enjoy dance, music and poetry from the Silk Road including Iran, Afghanistan, Armenia, China, India, Azerbaijan, Egypt, the Balkans, the Roma & more...
Festival of the Silk Road 2014 unites stellar dance and music artists to celebrate the rich cultural traditions of the Silk Road. These historic trade routes stretched 7,000 miles across Eurasia from the China Sea in the east to the Mediterranean in the west, an epic cross-pollination of ideas and creativity!
1pm - 6pm Free in the lovely Gardens
Folkdancing, Music, Arts & Crafts, International Food Court and Family Fun
3:00 - 4:30pm Afternoon Concert, 6:00 - 8:00pm Evening Concert! Ticketed performances in the luxurious 500 seat theater featuring master performing artists from across the Bay Area and around the world. One ticket price for an all day pass to all Theater Concerts!
1:00pm - 6pm In the Gardens
Festivities begin at 1pm with daytime fun in the beautiful Gardens.
From 1-6pm in the gardens enjoy the International Food Court including Halal favorites, costume exhibits, and a Silk Road Bazaar offering traditional clothing, jewelry and art, plus exciting dance and music workshops. Free performances and folk dancing all afternoon with many special guests, Armenian dancer and vocalist Hasmik Harutyunyan, Edessa Balkan/Greek/Mid-East dance tunes, along with plenty of Folk Dance Mania with the Folkdance Federation of N. California. Come picnic on the lawn under the palm trees with family and friends! Admission to the gardens is complimentary - FREE!
Ticketed Theater Concerts at 3:00pm & 6:00pm
Two Concert events, at 3pm & again at 6pm in the luxurious 500 seat theater, dance, music and poetry from the Silk Road regions. Featuring some of the most masterful and talented performers from across the Bay Area and around the World.
6pm Evening Concert (doors open at 5:30) features:

Salar System featuring S.A.R.A. Sounds and Rhythms of Afghanistan with Salar Nader, AJ Subat & Qais Essar,
Mohammad Nejad of Nejad World Music,
Chinese Performing Arts of America,
Zaryab Persian Music ensemble with Neema Hekmat,
Dance artist Miriam Peretz, ARAX Dance of Armenia, master of Persian percussion Pezhham Akhavass with Mehdi Bagheri on kamancheh.
3pm Afternoon Concert (doors open at 2:45) with:

Tarangini School of Kathak,
Niosha Dance, Hala Egyptian Dance,
Afsaneh Dance Academy,
Amir Abbas Music School Ensemble,
Chichaklar Dance Group from Vancouver, Canada and more.
One ticket to see both theater concerts! $20 & $30, $100 (Gold Circle VIP reserved seats). All festivities in the Gardens are Free.

Afsaneh Art & Culture Society - Ballet Afsaneh is an artist-run, nonprofit cultural organization and performing arts ensemble.
